Welcome to one of Alaska's last great fishing vacation destinations, Valdez.
Whether you're looking for tackle-busting salmon, monster barn-door halibut
or just capturing unforgettable Alaskan views and sunsets, be assured,
you'll find it at our unique oceanside wilderness lodge. |
What
separates Ravencroft Lodge from other Alaskan Lodges? We of
course have world class fishing at our front door.
Tackle-busting salmon, monster barn-door halibut and
numerous other line ripping, spool peeling species await you
here in Valdez. But Ravencroft is much more then just fishing in Valdez. We want
to give you the adventure of a life-time! There are so many
more activities that are begging the outdoor enthusiast.
There's no need for fly-out trips here, because you are
already at the epicenter of the tremendous ebb and flow of
wildlife populations which are triggered by the yearly
salmon migrations. Whales and Orca's frequently pass right
in front of the lodge. Sea Otters and Dall's Porpoise play
just off the beach. Bears cruise the beaches and nearby
streams. Migrating hummingbirds stop for a drink at one of
the many hummingbird feeders. Massive schools of salmon swim
beneath you while on our dock in Valdez. Passing sea-lions venture
from a nearby sea-lion rookery and display their brute power
as they catch salmon.
The mighty Columbia Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier
in Prince William Sound, is available as a day-trip from the
lodge. And did we mention the scenery! Each day presents
Alaska in a totally different light. Beauty surrounds the
lodge in every direction and every adventure, whether it be
by boat, kayak, or trails. The amazing views are endless!
Our love of Alaska is something that we would love to share
these great, awe-inspiring experiences with each and every
guest that visits the lodge. We are remote, even by other
lodge standards, but we treasure our location, location,
location! Because of where we are, fishing pressure is
extremely low. Most groups will encounter very few other
fishermen during their entire 7 day stay. Which allows you
to have access to the best fishing holes, viewing spots and
breathtaking views during your time at Ravencroft Lodge. We
also like to keep our groups small. This allows us to spend
more time with each of our guests for a better experience.
And being a family-run operation, we strive to maintain a
family friendly atmosphere. Our business is based on
building relationships that will endure though out the
seasons and pride ourselves on repeat clientele. Spend a
week with us and you'll leave with new friends, incredible
adventures and memories that will last a lifetime!

The fishing here is fabulous in Valdez. Fishing for 'feeder' King Salmon
is available in July through September. In June early July,
Pink Salmon arrive by the millions, schooling in the bays in
preparation for running up the coastal streams to spawn. The
Pink Salmon fishing is excellent through August. In July,
the Silver Salmon (Coho's) arrive and cruise the beaches and
bays in large schools, waiting for the Pinks to finish, so
they can go upstream to spawn.
Silver Salmon fishing is available July through
September in Valdez. From the Lodge, we fish for the salmon in the
saltwater. They are still ocean- fresh and full of energy,
having just arrived out of the Pacific Ocean and not having
spawned yet. They are bright, powerful and tackle-busting.
The fighting experience you'll get from these fish is
something you will never forget it.
In addition to the salmon fishing, we have great Halibut fishing near the lodge in Valdez. There is also a large variety of other species to fish for, and they are sometimes hard to keep off your hook while Halibut fishing. Stalking the big Salmon Sharks which follow the salmon migrations up our inlet is a new and exciting aspect of fishing at Ravencroft.
The main Lodge building is a large facility located right on the beach, with spacious porches overlooking the inlet and surrounding mountains. This is the center of activity at Ravencroft, and all meals are served here in the lodge dinning room. The lounge/meeting room is a relaxing place for guests to hang out and discuss the days exciting events before turning in. The 'Bunkhouse' building is nestled into a nook in the coastal rainforest, a few yards back from the beach. Rooms consist of one large 'community' bunkhouse-type room and four standard double rooms. This building has indoor plumbing with 2 hot showers and 2 bathrooms. The larger community room will accommodate up to 10 guests.
It has 5 double bunk bed berths, a heating stove with a clothes drying area. The four individual rooms accommodate
up to 2 guests each. Each room has a double bunk bed. Each room also has its own heating stove and clothes drying area. Bathrooms and showers, two of each, are located at one end of the Bunkhouse building, and are accessed off the surround-porch which extends all the way around the building. Satellite television and Internet are available for everyone in the lounge/meeting room. There is limited cell phone service available in our area as well. |
